 2016 Preview

Gadsden City completed the 2015 season with a 5-5 record. Last year Gadsden City just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 7A region four with a 4-3 region record.

The Titans had some tough luck last season as they lost five games, all by less than eight points. The Titans hope to rebound after a down year. Last season they struggled winning just five games which followed a 10-3 record in 2014.

Since 2010, Gadsden City has gone a combined 41-28. Their 59.0% winning percentage ranks 14th in Class 7A over the past six seasons.

Over the past 10 seasons, Gadsden City has managed to compile a record of 78-40. Their 66.0% winning percentage ranks 5th in Class 7A and 49th in the AHSAA.

The Titans are led by head coach Matt Scott who is entering his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 20-14 over the past three seasons at Gadsden City. Under his direction the Titans have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have won one region crown with Coach Scott.

Coach Scott's overall record as a head football coach in seven season stands at 55-27 (67.1%). Over the course of his career, Coach Scott's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of five times and won two region championships.

The Gadsden City Titans will play in Class 7A region four during the 2016 season.

The Titans will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region four this season. Gadsden City came up short of the playoffs last year but are optimistic of a return to the post season this year.

The Titans open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Spain Park on Friday, August 19 at Titan Stadium. Last year the Spain Park Jaguars finished with an overall record of 12-2 and in first place in Class 7A region three. The Jaguars lost in the Class 7A State Championship game last season when they were defeated by McGill-Toolen. They final score was 14-12 in the Super Seven finals in Auburn.

Gadsden City and Spain Park have met a total of 6 times on the football field. The Titans have a 3-3-0 record against the Jaguars. They last met in 2009 with Gadsden City winning by a score of 49-32.

College prospects include: Damon Williams (6-2, 187) running back, Toryque Bateman (68, 305) offensive tackle,
